Maryland's Annual Report on Bullying Incidents Minimize

UPDATE:  March 31, 2007 Report

March 31, 2006 Report:

Harassment and Intimidation (Bullying) in Maryland Public Schools: A Report to the Maryland General Assembly on Incidents Reported Under the Safe Schools Reporting Act of 2005

MCPS has a very low incidence of reported bullying noted in the report -only 66 reports!

“It is important to note that the variation in numbers of reported incidents may largely reflect differences among school systems in levels of awareness on the parts of school staff, parents, and students themselves…"

Therefore, the low number is most likely due to the lack of an anti-bullying program! If parents and staff do not know the State is collecting this information or how to report bullying, how will the real numbers become known? Read about this and other interesting facts in this annual report. This new report is due out March 31, 2007.
